Like the Sea, Like Time traces the history of Liverpool, one of Britain’s oldest cities and an important port, using a variety of texts, from Thomas Hardy to Walt Whitman and Edgar Allan Poe. The work was written to mark the 800th anniversary of the city’s founding charter and was premiered at the start of Liverpool’s year as European Capital of Culture in 2008. This is a poetic work that takes the listener on a journey of the mind and spirit.
